Current Status of Department of Economics

Department of Economics officially started its activities in 1988 by admitting students at B.A level in Theoretical subfield of Economics. In the early stages, 3 full-time faculty members were active in the department and after the development of the department, other remarkable professors joined the department.

It is noteworthy that Department of Economics of Bu-Ali Sina University is one of the richest departments of Economics among the universities of the country and is honored by the presence of great professors such as Dr. Teimour Rahmani, Ali Souri, and other remarkable professors. After the expansion of the department and with the addition of the subfield of Business at B.A level in 1992, the department successfully obtained the license for the establishment of M.A courses in two subfields of Economic Sciences and Economic Development and Planning. In the semester of 881, first group of PhD. students consisting of 5 students started their studies.

Offered subfields:

Since 2016, with respect to the strategic policies of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, admission of students is only done in the subfield of Economic Sciences. However, until 2015 the Department of Economics admitted students in two subfields of Theoretical and Business at B.A level, subfields of Economic Sciences and Economic Development and Planning at M.A level, the general subfield of Economic Sciences and two secondary subfields of Economic Development and Financial Economics at PhD. level.
